This was a 30-minute pose in a live model drawing session. I like this kind of light very much, a large, old schoolhouse room with one wall of windows behind me. This kind of light falls on the model and darkens every surface moving away from my viewpoint. That permits a very sculptural feeling to be quickly drawn. The dress was black with white stripes. I didn’t spend too much time capturing individual white stripes.

Desperation #2.2
This is a duplicate of Desperation 2, with two hidden layers added back in.
This is a revision of Desperation #2. Still grappling with Klee’s Line Walk lessons. Thus, lots of lines walking.

An artist’s statement should be in the painting itself
Inspired by Ed Ruscha, who is currently living and working in Los Angeles. Originally from Nebraska, his work is mostly concentrated on describing American culture through pop art and contemporary art. One of his exhibitions is on at the moment at Gagosian, New York.
